This Course is designed to raise awareness of the prevailing illegal drugs scene in licensed premises and to enable licensees in developing affect strategies for dealing with drugs problems on the premises. Candidates will demonstrate their knowledge by a 30 question multiple choice examination. To pass the delegate must answer correctly 24 out of the 30. Twenty-five minutes are allowed to answer all 30 questions.
Topics covered:
- Exemplify knowledge of general drug trends and who to approach for regional information.
- Identify drugs legislation which may affect liquor licensed premises and public entertainment licensed premises under the Misuse of Drugs Act and Public Entertainment Licences (Drug Misuse) act 1997
- Identify the law and processes concerning revocation of a Justices' licence or public entertainment licence in relation to drugs offences
- Identify the need for a two-way exchange of information between the licensee and the licensing authorities
- Demonstrate an understanding of drug problems peculiar to licensed premises according to location and type
- Exemplify knowledge of how to initiate a drug strategy(drug policy)
- Identify the components of a needs assessment
- Demonstrate an understanding of how to deal with drug uses and dealers
- Comply with requirements of finding or confiscating drugs
- Comply with the requirements of disposal of suspect substances (found/confiscated drugs)
- Exemplify knowledge of how to make notes and keep an incident record
- Identify how to design out drugs from a venue and the use of closed circuit television (CCTV)
- Explain how to comply with the requirements of public safety
- Demonstrate the understanding of the need for multi-agency liaison and describe the importance of partnership with relevant authorities
- Exemplify knowledge of how to implement and monitor a drug strategy
