What is the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Designated Premises Supervisors?

Under the Licensing Act 2003, anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol will have to hold a personal licence as well as a premises licence. As part of the conditions of the premises licence a Designated Premises Supervisor needs to be appointed.

At present the Licensing Act 2003 fails to provide a job description for the role of DPS, however it does provide a penalty of up to £20,000 and or six months imprisonment, should the DPS fail to perform their duties.

Who is the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Designated Premises Supervisors for? The qualification is nationally recognised and is designed for anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol in licensed premises including:
